SKILLBILL is excited to announce the Green Contest, an open European school competition designed to raise awareness about Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and address the gender gap in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. The Green Contest encourages students to engage in socially and environmentally sustainable actions through creative projects that can make a difference.
As part of the broader SKILLBILL initiative, the Green Contest aims to foster a culture of sustainability and inclusiveness in the renewable energy sector. The project recognises that the transition to a carbon-free energy system is not only a technical challenge but also a societal one. SKILLBILL is committed to raising awareness about RES and bridging the gender gap in STEM through various educational programs and activities.
The Green Contest serves several purposes, including promoting creativity among students, encouraging innovative ideas and fostering a greater understanding of renewable energy and gender equality in STEM careers. Students are invited to develop projects that creatively address one or both of the following themes:
- Renewable Energy Sources: Projects that explore how renewable energy can contribute to a sustainable future, covering topics like solar, wind, hydroelectric, and technological innovations.
- Gender Gap in STEM: Initiatives that analyze and propose solutions to bridge the gender gap, highlighting women’s excellence in the renewable energy field and promoting gender equality.
The contest is open to two categories of students: those under 14 and those over 14 (high school students). Participants can enter individually or in small groups of up to four students. Eligible contributions include various formats, such as videos, essays, podcasts, comic strips and photographs, allowing students to express their ideas creatively. All contributions must be submitted in English.
Important Dates and Evaluation
The Green Contest will run throughout the academic year 2024/2025, with submissions accepted until February 28, 2025. The evaluation process will involve a committee selecting the top contributions in each category, with winners announced on May 23, 2025. The contest aims to reward creativity and innovation, providing valuable prizes for the top entries.
We encourage all students to participate in this exciting contest and showcase their talent and creativity while making a positive impact on the environment and promoting gender equality in STEM.
